🌡️ How the crowd temperature works
Ganimani shows how crowded a place is as a 0–100° "temperature". 100° is close to that place’s usual busiest moment, and the number compares right now against it.
Levels
The temperature falls into four levels.
- Quiet 0–29°
- Moderate 30–54°
- Getting busy 55–74°
- Crowded 75–100°
🟢 Measured · 🟡 Partly measured · ⚪ Estimated
- 🟢 Measured — Places covered by Seoul’s real-time city data (live population estimated from mobile network signals). Most major Seoul spots are here.
- 🟡 Partly measured — No live population, but indirect live signals are mixed in: traffic on the roads in (Kakao Navi), live parking, tourist-site concentration forecasts and visitor reports.
- ⚪ Estimated — A forecast from day-of-week, hour, holiday and season patterns, adjusted for weather and today’s events. It can differ from reality.
⏱️ How often it updates
- Seoul live population: about every 5 minutes
- Traffic and parking: every 5–10 minutes
- Weather: hourly (Korea Meteorological Administration)
- Interest (Naver search volume): a few times a day
- Visitor reports: instantly (kept for 1 day)
🧳 Crowd levels in trip plans
The “while you’re there” level and “quietest hour” in trip plans are forecasts from that day’s patterns. On the day of your trip we re-check them with live data.
⚠️ Limits
- Outside Seoul there is less live population data, so estimates carry more weight.
- It is an average for the whole area; a particular shop or subway exit can be busier.
- Sudden events, incidents or weather changes may show up late in forecasts.
- If you are worried about safety, follow on-site staff and call 112 (police) or 119 (emergency) first.
